Group lessons have up to 6 swimmers
Please bring a towel, hair tie or swim cap for swimmers with long hair.
Please do not feed your swimmer 45 minutes prior to your lesson to avoid getting sick.
Water Babies Ages 6 months to 3 years (Parent participation required)
- The purpose of this class is to teach the parents and children how to have fun, enjoy, and be comfortable together in the water. Children may still demonstrate some fear of the water. Games are often used to develop comfort in the water.
- Swim diapers are required for all swimmers who are not toilet trained.
- End of class goal: For parents and children to develop a love of the water together and for children to become comfortable in and around the water with a parent or instructor.
Aquatots Ages 2 to 4 years
- Children must be comfortable in the water, independent, and able to listen and learn without a parent in the water. Children should be comfortable putting their faces in the water and floating on their back and stomach with some help. Games are often used to develop comfort in the water and to lay the foundation for upper-level classes.
- End of class goals: For children to be comfortable in and around the water, floating, kicking, blowing bubbles, and bobbing on their own.
Level 1 Ages 4 to 7 years
- For children with little or no experience in the water. They may still demonstrate some fear of the water but can participate independently of a parent. There is an emphasis on body position and kicking. Children must be able to stand in 3 – 3 ½ feet of water.
- End of class goals: For children to become comfortable in and around the water while learning a healthy respect for the water. To move on to Level 2 they must be able to comfortably submerge their heads, blow bubbles, float and glide independently.
Level 2 Ages 5 to 10 years
- Swimmers must be able to comfortably submerge their heads, blow bubbles, float and glide independently. Emphasis in this level is on proper body position while gliding and kicking on both back and stomach. Basic freestyle and arm movements are also a focus in this level.
- End of class goals: For swimmers to be able to float, glide, roll and move through the water with proper body position. To move to Level 3 swimmers need to be able to do the above skills for a distance of 5-10 yards, in both deep and shallow water, and both on their backs and stomachs.
Level 3 Ages 7 to 13 years
- Swimmers must be able to float, glide, roll and move through the water with proper body position for a distance of at least 5-10 yards. They must also be comfortable in deep water. There is an emphasis in this level on improved freestyle arm movements and breathing to the side as well as an introduction to backstroke arm movements.
- End of class goals:For swimmers to comfortably swim freestyle breathing to the side with proper body position and backstroke with proper body position for one length of the pool (20 yds). Swimmers will learn breaststroke kick, butterfly body motion, and diving in a streamlined position.
